Labels are so much more than a strip of woven fabric. They are a seal of quality.

Labels are a piece of history sown into the textile – the result of hours of creative work, experimenting and passion. They allow each craftsman to be part of a bigger story and to contribute to a brand’s success and prestige.

They are a bridge connecting two worlds through beauty and craftsmanship.

Woven labels contain a whole universe of feelings, stories and dreams, all entwined with the thread of passion. Discover the evolution of labels in the textile industry.

Our origins

First used in the first half of the 19th century by C.F. Worth to identify a “couturier” or the owner of a specific garment, for over a century labels were manufactured with shuttle looms.

Taffeta Labels

These labels allow for the addition of complex logos and detailed information about the products, such as fabric composition and care instructions.

Damask Labels

Towards the end of the 1980s, new high-definition weaving technologies further changed the label industry. They now allowed for more complex designs, and labels became branding and marketing tools as well as sources of information.

Fashion Labels

1991 saw the introduction of “fashion” labels, which used alternative yarns and introduced ultrasonic technology.

Eco-labels

They were the first iteration of “eco-friendly labels”, which contained natural fibers – such as cotton, wool, silk, linen – alongside the traditional polyester. This was the first step in the transition to a more eco-friendly manufacturing approach.

Virtual Color Labels

New technology and software were developed in 2000, which helped create a “photographic” weaving effect.

Prestige Labels

These labels were introduced in 2007 and became popular thanks to air-jet machines. Using high- definition yarns and more complex techniques allowed for the creation of more detailed labels, more vibrant colors and more defined text, even in smaller fonts.

QR Code Labels

They were created to connect the physical and digital worlds by allowing users to access information such as authenticity and traceability through QR codes. This was made possible through the introduction of a special Jumbo Jacquard machine.

Natural Labels & Ribbon

Through the development of modern shuttle looms – both Jacquard and Dobby machines – since 2016 the industry has further delved into the use of natural fibers.

Satin Plus Labels

A unique kind of label – its extraordinary sharpness provides a luxury feel. The yarns’ high density creates impeccable details, in turn making the textile extremely precious and distinctive.
